If you do not forgive

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

01When you stand praying, forgive
Mark already has the open half. Forgive, and your Father will forgive. The oldest copies stop there and walk toward the temple question.
02Matthew’s other half
If you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive you. Still in the prayer chapter, in every translation here.
03The couplet, written in
Later Mark copies finish the rhyme from Matthew. The KJV numbers it. The warning did not leave the Bible.

Read it this way
Mark 11:25 already says it: when you stand praying, forgive, so that your Father in heaven will forgive you. That is the mountain-moving chapter. The oldest copies then go on to the question about authority. There is no verse 26.
Matthew 6:15 is the other half — if you do not forgive, neither will your Father. A scribe who had just copied Mark 11:25 often wrote Matthew’s warning in, so the thought would not sit unfinished. The Lord’s Prayer was in his ear. He finished the couplet.
The warning stands in Matthew 6:15 in every Bible on this shelf. Mark’s oldest copies already told you to forgive while you pray. They did not print the negative in this verse. They did not delete it from the Gospel.
Still on the page: Matthew 6:15 — But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours.
